J Y Barris is a passionate novelist, an ambitious entrepreneur, and a graphic designer ready to change the world one silly idea at a time. Being creative has always been a part of her life. As a high-spirited child, impromptu storytelling and play-acting were two of her earliest talents. Although her love for English did not start until she was thirteen — it happened after she watched the movie Titanic for the very first time — that love became a huge turning point in her life.

"I would borrow fiction after fiction from the public library. One day I stumbled upon 'Flowers in the Attic' by V.C. Andrews and and fell in love reading it.

I've wanted to write a novel of my own ever since."

There are many great authors she admires, Stephen King and Louisa May Alcott just to name a few, but one in particular is the late V.C. Andrews. Her work has been an inspiration to Julie for years, and is her initial drive to become a professional, indie writer.

Today, whenever possible, she encourages others to write too.

"You don't have to have the most exciting life to write. If you have a story to tell, tell it; or better yet, write it. The sky is the limit.

Let your imagination run free and your creativity will shine through you."

On a side note: Julie has a bachelor's degree in Finance and MIS from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. She lives in Minnesota with her all-supportive, genius of a husband, Sam, and their two chubby cats. In her spare time she cooks and eats healthy, and occasionally jams on her acoustic. She enjoys the simple things such as watching a movie on Netflix and going for walks in parks and forests. Life's good to this city girl turned suburb artist.
